Results
2009 was a year of troubling economic times. The local unemployment rate jumped to 11.2% – the highest in 27 years – resulting in an exploding population of unemployed workers. CRC was directly affected with a 27% increase in new clients, as compared to 2008.
CRC rose to the challenge and quickly responded to the increased demand for services by implementing the following additions/modifications with the goal of keeping clients engaged in their job search:
- Doubled monthly programs and software classes
- Initiated the formation of client accountability groups
- Increased advisor hours, often doubling their hours of commitment
- Increased support staff by 30 hours a week
- Added three new workstations with internet hook-ups for laptops
- Opened educational programs to non-members for a small fee
- Established the LinkedIn program as a monthly commitment
2009 Accomplishments
Most Ever:
- 158 – advisory sessions held in February
- 538 – visitor/client encounters in August
- 170 – educational & networking programs (76 in 2008)

12 Month Activity:
- 5,076 visitor/client encounters
- 1,591 advisory sessions
- 5,313 volunteer hours logged

Employment Success:
- 83% listed themselves as currently working
- 58% were more satisfied with their new job than their previous job
Benefits Affirmed:
- 81% believed that CRC had a positive impact on their job search
- 73% continue to benefit from the knowledge/skills they acquired
- 95% would recommend CRC to others
