Often CRC’s clients will have encountered a recent, and first, job loss
and are trying to cope with this major, life disrupting experience.
Sixty-six percent (66%) of all clients are unemployed when they begin
using CRC services with many of those listed as employed being proactive
knowing that shortly they will also be on the unemployment rolls.
CRC serves clients from a wide range of disciplines, professions, experiences,
age groups, and compensation levels (entry to executive). They may be
recent widows or empty nesters returning to the workplace for the first
time in years. They may be recent college graduates or those who have
been under employed. The majority, however, are unemployed workers affected
by downsizing, mergers, company closings or relocations. Clients’
specialties vary dramatically with sales, customer service, technology,
finance, administrative services, marketing, and general management
topping the list.
Since its inception 19 years ago, CRC has served more than 10,500 job
seekers. During the period of April 2008 through March 2009, 857 clients
from 86 different communities accessed the services CRC provides. Sixty-three
percent (63%) of CRC’s clients reside in Lake County, thirty-three
percent (33%) in Cook County, and four percent (4%) from surrounding
counties including southern Wisconsin. According to our latest demographic
analysis of clientele, seventy-five percent (75%) of clients are over
the age of 46, with fifty-six percent (56%) above the age of 50 years.
